HC Deb 09 February 1948 vol 447 cc9-10W
Mr. Platts-Mills

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether the decision to protest to the Roumanian Government against the alleged suppression of democratic rights, and the contents of the proposed British Note, were made known to the American State Department prior to its despatch to His Majesty's Ambassador at Bucharest.

Mr. McNeil

The decision to protest to the Roumanian Government was made known to the State Department. The text of the proposed British Note was not conveyed to them prior to its despatch to His Majesty's Chargé d'Affaires at Bucharest, though they were certainly aware of its general tenor.
