HC Deb 09 February 1948 vol 447 cc23-4W
123. Mr. Reeves

asked the Financial Secretary to the Treasury if he will give details of films and film strips produced by or for the Central Office of Information on the national effort to bridge the gap between our imports and exports.

Mr. Glenvil Hall

Yes. Following is the list:

The following films produced by or for the Central Office of Information deal directly with the national effort to increase exports and to balance our overseas trade: (1) One-reel films:

  • "The Balance": an exposition of the import-export problem.
  • "Britain Wants to Know": an explanation of the urgent need to increase the manpower of the export industries.
  • "All Eyes on Britain": a review of Britain's resources for export.
  • "Turn It Out": a film about the production drive and why it is necessary.

(2) Trailers or flashes: Three one-minute "trailers" intended to drive home the need for greater production for export.

All these films have been widely shown in cinemas in the United Kingdom.
