HC Deb 09 February 1948 vol 447 c10W
52. Mr. J. Morrison

asked the Minister of Agriculture whether he is satisfied with the current rate of provision of grain storage and drying facilities in the light of the necessity of forestalling the effects of possible rainy weather during this year's harvest.

Mr. T. Williams

My right hon. Friend the Minister of Food and I are not satisfied with the current rate of provision of grain storage facilities and we are considering, in consultation with the interests concerned, what steps can be taken to ensure that the maximum possible increase in facilities is provided in time for this year's harvest. As regards grain drying equipment, I am aware that there is at present some months' delay in delivery, but my right hon. Friend, the Minister of Supply, is doing everything possible to reduce this delay.
