HC Deb 04 February 1948 vol 446 cc292-3W
106. Mr. Dodds-Parker

asked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of Civil Aviation when he expects the flying boat service to South Africa to be in full operation; what extensions are being planned for a route down the East coast and through Lake Nyasa; and what extensions are being planned to Mauritius and the Seychelles.

Mr. Lindgren

It is hoped to start a once weekly service in the spring. The frequency will be increased to twice and thrice weekly as soon as sufficient aircraft are available. With regard to the second part of the Question, there are no plans at the moment. As to the last part of the Question, I would refer the hon. Member to the reply given to him on 28th January last by my right hon. Friend the Secretary of State for the Colonies.
