HC Deb 04 February 1948 vol 446 c296W
Mr. Law

asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies what are the circumstances in which twenty-two British warplanes were recently sold to the Jewish Agency to form part of the Haganah air force.

Mr. G. R. Strauss

I have been asked to reply. No British warplane has been sold to the Jewish Agency, but 20 Auster and one Oxford aircraft were sold, after they had been demilitarised, to the Aviron Palestine Aviation Company, through normal commercial channels. They were all unserviceable.
