HC Deb 02 February 1948 vol 446 c224W
67. Mr. Willis

asked the Minister of Agriculture why the existing arrangements for the wholesale distribution of Ordnance Survey Maps in Scotland were dispensed with prior to the completion of arrangements for the establishment in Edinburgh of a Wholesale Ordnance Survey Maps, Sales and Issue Department, and when he expects such a department will be established.

Mr. T. Williams

The present emergency scheme was introduced because the arrangements made by the former wholesale agents of the Ordnance Survey Department in Edinburgh were inadequate to meet the requirements of the trade and Government Departments in Scotland satisfactorily. Every effort is being made to hasten the establishment in Edinburgh of a Map Sales and Issues Depot or another wholesale agency, but no firm date can yet be given.
