§ Sir R. Glynasked the Minister of Supply what restrictions are imposed on the sale of modern types of aircraft to 222W foreign Powers; and whether before any such sale is made consultation takes place with the Minister of Defence and the Secretary of State for Air.
§ Mr. G. R. StraussExport licences are needed for all aircraft sold abroad. Every proposal to sell military aircraft abroad is closely scrutinised by my Department and the other Departments concerned, and in arriving at a decision account is taken of all relevant considerations. The Ministry of Defence and the Air Ministry are invariably consulted.
§ Sir R. Glynasked the Minister of Supply if he can provide in the form of a table a list of the various types of aircraft handed over to his Department for disposal since 1946, indicating the numbers sold or broken up and the destination of those sold to foreign Powers or private corporations; and also the number and type of aircraft that have ceased to be on the charge of the Ministry but about whose disposal there is no information.
§ Mr. G. R. StraussI am having the information collected and will send it to the hon. Member.
