HC Deb 02 December 1948 vol 458 cc205-6W
59. Mr. Langford-Holt

asked the Financial Secretary to the Treasury for what reason is the special extra duty allowance of 8 per cent. granted to established administrative officers in Government offices in the London area withheld from senior temporary assistants and temporary assistants, known as temporary executives, in the various Government offices, who work not less than the same number of hours per week, but who are paid only 3 per cent. in respect of additional hours above standard attendance; and will he recognise the hours of attendance of these temporary executives by granting them equal treatment.

Mr. Glenvil Hall

The excess hours of temporary executive staff are only 3.3 per cent. in excess of their conditioned hours of 44 a week and this accounts for the smaller allowance paid to them.
