§ Mr. Lowasked the Minister of Labour whether it is now open for universities to apply for students with scholarships to be released from the Forces if their age and 61W service group is 63 or above; how many students have been affected by this concession and in what age and service groups.
§ Mr. Ness EdwardsNo. The scheme under which universities could apply for the out-of-turn release of certain students from the Forces in order to take up their studies in October, 1947, is now completed. If any vacancies occur during the academic year preference must clearly be given to men released in age and service order. The second part of the Question does not, therefore, arise.
