HC Deb 28 October 1947 vol 443 c60W
109. Mr. Digby

asked the Minister of Labour, whether, in view of the importance of increasing the production of home-grown timber, he will exempt forestry workers from call-up in the same way as agricultural workers.

Mr. Isaacs

No.

Mr. Swingler

asked the Minister of Labour if he will give a revised estimate of the numbers of men to be called up for military service during 1948, in view of the likelihood of increasing numbers of exemptions and deferments.

Mr. Isaacs

I am not at present in a position to make any further statement about the number of men expected to be called up in 1948.
