HC Deb 28 October 1947 vol 443 c59W
110. Sir J. Lucas

asked the Minister of Labour what action he intends to take in cases where a person directed into a closed-shop industry refuses to join the appropriate trade union and is therefore not allowed to work.

Mr. Isaacs

This is a hypothetical question, but should such a case arise any action to be taken would depend on the particular circumstances.

113. Mr. Swingler

asked the Minister of Labour what numbers and types of persons are at present making no contribution to the national well-being; and what measures he is proposing to take to bring them into essential work.

Mr. Isaacs

I hope to make a statement next week.
