HC Deb 28 November 1947 vol 444 c320W
Mr. Ewart

asked the Postmaster-General if the programmes of the B.B.C. Home Service wave length 285 m. can be more equitably shared between Northern Ireland and Stagshaw transmitters, as Northern Ireland receives the greater proportion of broadcasting time to the detriment of the North-Eastern transmitter; what is the method of allocation between these two stations; and by whom the allocation is made.

Mr. Wilfred Paling

The B.B.C. assure me that exactly the same programme is broadcast simultaneously from the B.B.C. transmitter at Stagshaw and from that in Northern Ireland. It is the settled policy of the Government to afford the B.B.C. independence in the compilation of broadcast programmes and the allocation of programme material is made by the Corporation.
