Lieut.-Colonel Bromley-Davenportasked the Minister of Supply, in connection with the present drive to increase the export of machinery and machine tools from this country, what steps are taken to ensure that such exports are not achieved at the expense of British industry, the ability of which to increase its exports must depend to a large extent on obtaining new supplies of machinery and machine tools.
§ Mr. G. R. StraussExport targets are fixed in consultation with the Government Departments responsible for the industries using the machinery and with the industries concerned. Full account is taken of the need to provide for the essential needs of British industry.
