HC Deb 25 November 1947 vol 444 c273W
Mr. Peart

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether he has any statement to make on the conclusion of a Monetary Agreement between this country and Sweden.

Sir S. Cripps

A Monetary Agreement between His Majesty's Government and the Swedish Government was signed on 24th November. It comes into force today and replaces the Supplementary Monetary Agreement of 14th July, 1947. It provides a new mechanism for payments between the sterling area and Sweden, and should facilitate the further development of Anglo-Swedish trade. The text of the agreement will be presented to Parliament and copies will be available in the Vote Office today.
