HC Deb 24 November 1947 vol 444 cc256-7W
Mr. C. S. Taylor

asked the Minister of Health whether he has considered the resolution passed by the Eastbourne Association of Building Trades Employers, of which a copy has been sent him, drawing attention to the disastrous effect of the curtailment of building licences on towns such as Eastbourne, which have no heavy industries and no factories and therefore no means of absorbing unemployed building trade operatives; and whether he has any statement to make.

Mr. Bevan

Yes. I am advised that there is sufficient work on the local authority's own housing scheme to employ the available building labour.
