HC Deb 24 November 1947 vol 444 c242W
71. Mr. Butcher

asked the Minister of Food why he has refused to allow Mrs. Shiell of New Road, Spalding, to sell refreshments on the Spalding United football field, although refreshments for spectators are available at similar football fields in Peterborough, Boston and Grantham; and what steps he is taking to secure uniformity in this matter.

Dr. Summerskill

The present food supply position leaves me no alternative but to limit the number of new catering licences. It has been necessary to refuse licences to hundreds of applicants, including Mrs. Shiell.
