HC Deb 20 November 1947 vol 444 c219W
116. Colonel Ropner

asked the Minister of Food whether in view of the rationing of potatoes, he is satisfied that under ground workers in the coal mining industry are entitled to sufficient food to enable them to carry out their work efficiently.

Dr. Summerskill

My right hon. Friend is satisfied that the domestic rations available to miners together with their canteens, where they are entitled to 12 oz. of potatoes at each main meal, will provide them with sufficient food to enable them to carry out their work efficiently.
