HC Deb 17 November 1947 vol 444 cc143-4W
127. Mr. Skeffington

asked the Minister of Food whether he is aware that in South-East London and many districts onions are now virtually unobtainable in the shops; what steps are being taken to remedy this shortage; and what imports are being received now or in the near future.

Dr. Summerskill

As this year's home crop was light, supplies ran out more quickly than usual. Importation is now permitted and the supply position should improve.
