asked the Minister of Works what progress is being made on the research or experiment with alternative materials to iron castings for the manufacture of rainwater guttering and spouting.

Encouragement has been given to the production of rainwater goods in aluminium alloy, pressed steel and asbestos cement and limited supplies are now available. Investigation is proceeding into the use of bituminous pitch fibre.
