HC Deb 17 November 1947 vol 444 cc130-1W
42. Colonel Stoddart-Scott

asked the Minister of Supply how many tons of nails. screws, nuts, bolts, washers, &c., are stored on the 1,000 square yards of accommodation at Beehive Mills, Thornton Road, Bradford; is he aware that tons of nails have been allowed to rust and that copper nails. steel nuts and bolts, aluminium washers are all being mixed together; and why have they not been sold to the public.

Mr. J. Jones

Stocks at this depot at present amount to approximately 300 tons. Some of this material is rusty when received, but every effort is made to maintain as rapid a turnover as possible and to segregate non-ferrous materials. The actual turnover has averaged 400 tons a month, and the material has been disposed of through the normal trade channels.
