§ Dr. SummerskillOf the 3,386 calories in the British Medical Association diet Number 2 published in 1933, 12 per cent. were derived from protein, 28 per cent from fat and 60 per cent. from carbohydrate. The corresponding proportions in the present-day average diet are 12 per cent., 33 per cent. and 55 per cent respectively.
