HC Deb 12 November 1947 vol 444 c76W
66. Lieut.-Colonel Uvedale Corbett

asked the Minister of Food why the price of carrots is only announced when the crop is ready for sale.

Dr. Summerskill

Growers were informed on 25th June, 1947, that fixed prices and the guaranteed market would operate from 1st November. The fixed growers' prices now prescribed for main crop carrots from that date are in line with those previously announced for the earlier crop, that is, 10s. per ton in advance of the previous season.
