§ 3. Mr. Turtonasked the Minister of Food the quantity, value and countries of origin of the imports of pomegranates in the first nine months of this year.
§ Mr. StracheyPomegranates are not shown as a separate item in the official import statistics. The best information I can get indicates that 215 tons were imported between 1st January and 30th September, 1947, of which 104 tons, worth £6,666, came from Spain, 96 tons, worth £10,007, from Italy and 15 tons, worth £786, from France and French Morocco. We have had, unfortunately, to end the free importation of fruit from Europe.
