HC Deb 10 November 1947 vol 444 cc6-7W
Mr. Sharp

asked the Minister of Agriculture by what date he estimates that the Ennerdale Forest Road will be completed; what progress has so far been made; what is the present approximate weekly expenditure on labour transport, and materials; and whether he anticipates that this will be maintained.

Mr. T. Williams

The Ennerdale Forest Road should be finished in about three months' time. So far, about 4½ miles have been made usable to traffic, although work is not complete. Work is proceeding on another half-mile and will be started shortly on the remaining mile. The present approximate weekly expenditure is £950 (wages: £670; transport and materials: £280). The answer to the last part of the Question is "Yes."
