HC Deb 10 November 1947 vol 444 c8W
85. Sir G. Fox

asked the Minister of Transport what is the present approximate capacity of motor car parking places in the central London area and what progress is being made in extending the provision of parking places in this area.

Mr. Callaghan

Appointed parking places and bombed sites in the central London area can hold about 2,500 cars. Not many other streets in this area are suitable as parking places, but we would like to make greater use of bombed sites.

86. Sir G. Fox

asked the Minister of Transport whether he is now in a position to make a statement about the results of the recently introduced regulations designed to ensure a better flow of traffic in the central London area and whether any further action is contemplated in this connection.

Mr. Callaghan

My right hon. Friend is expecting a report on this matter from the London and Home Counties Traffic Advisory Committee after their next meeting.
