§ 101. Mr. Oldfieldasked the Minister of Pensions the number of motor-propelled tricycles supplied at State cost to legless and other war pensioners; the present monthly rate of production; the numbers of legless pensioners who are still on the waiting list for such tricycles; and the present time-lag between authorisation of issue of tricycle and date of delivery.
§ Mr. Buchanan1131 cases have been supplied with motor-propelled tricycles at State expense and there are at present 294 cases awaiting delivery. Of recent months the number of orders has nearly doubled. The output of these tricycles during the past year has been about 40 a month. The time-lag between order and delivery is in the normal case something under six months. Action was taken by my Department some time ago to ensure an increase in the rate of delivery.
§ 102. Mr. Oldfieldasked the Minister of Pensions if he will consider the provision of motor-propelled tricycles at State cost 188W to all war disabled pensioners who require them, irrespective of whether need is for employment or not, to ensure full mobility to enjoy the ordinary pleasures and amenities of life.
§ Mr. BuchananA motor-propelled tricycle is provided for all paraplegics and for all pensioners who have lost two legs, of which one amputation is above the knee. A motor-propelled tricycle is also provided in any case where it is needed to enable a pensioner to obtain or retain employment. These arrangements have, in general, given satisfaction. Representations on this and other matters have, however, been made by the British Limbless Ex-Service Men's Association and these are receiving consideration.
