HC Deb 03 November 1947 vol 443 cc151-2W
Sir T. Moore

asked the Minister of Transport whether he will give an assurance that even if certain parts of the Road Development Programme have to be delayed or curtailed owing to new economic considerations he will still continue to proceed with the acquisition of the necessary land, having regard to the fact that the time taken to acquire land for road development is often as long as that actually taken to carry out the work in question.

Mr. Callaghan

Yes, for those trunk road schemes that are of high priority. My right hon. Friend hopes that local authorities will adopt a similar policy in respect of classified roads.
