§ Mr. StracheyThe controlled retail price of rice in Singapore and the Malayan Union is 5¼d. per pound. The black market price of rice in Singapore is said to be Is. 4d. per pound and on the Kedah- Siam and Kelantan-Siam borders 6¼d. a pound and 8¾d a pound respectively.
