HC Deb 27 March 1947 vol 435 c230W
101. Mr. Beswick

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department, how many sergeants in the Metropolitan Police force are filling the posts of station sergeants without the additional pay of that grading.

Mr. Ede

There are 18 cases in which station sergeants' duties are being performed by sergeants who do not draw temporary duty allowances because they are not employed for continuous periods exceeding two weeks, the period necessary to qualify for this allowance; a number of these vacancies will shortly be filled by promotions.
