§ Air-Commodore Harveyasked the Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster the average calorific value of food received per day by Germans in the British zone during January, 1947.
§ Mr. J. HyndAs I stated in my answer to my hon. and gallant Friend the Member for Penryn and Falmouth (Mr. King) on 22nd January, the weighted average of the rations in the British zone, including those of normal consumers, heavy workers, nursing mothers and others, but excluding supplementary meals to children at school, was 1,750 calories per day in January. The corresponding figure for the food received was about 1,670 calories per day. The deficiency of 80 calories should be made good by the end of this month.
