HC Deb 27 March 1947 vol 435 c221W
Mr. Sharp

asked the President of the Board of Trade the size of the regional pool of coal allotted to the East and West Ridings Regional Board for Industry; and whether he will arrange for this to be increased so as to permit the issue of supplementary licences to nationally important firms whose 33⅓ per cent. basic allocation only permits the equivalent of two days' working each week.

Sir S. Cripps

The pool available to the East and West Ridings Feel Allocation Committee for supplementing the basic allocation of firms engaged on production of special importance now stands at 19,500 tons. The size of the Regional pools is kept under constant review in the light of the supply position, but I regret that it is not possible at present to allocate additional coal to the pool for the East and West Ridings.
