asked the Secretary of State for Air what allowances are made to members of the Royal Observer Corps to meet the expenses they incur in this form of national service.

To meet the incidental expenses of their service, spare time observers in the Royal Observer Corps receive annual grants varying from £1 5s. to £3 10s. A grant for travel of 15s. to £1 15s. a year is paid to those who live more than two miles from their place of training. Observers who take part in exercises with the Royal Air Force also receive subsistence allowances of up to 6s. for each exercise.
