§ 55. Mr. Awberyasked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs if he is aware of the shortage of textbooks in the British zone in Germany, which is hampering the emergency teachers training work in Hamburg; that there are friends and associations in Switzerland prepared to present these books, so urgently required for re-education work, if an importation permit from Switzerland to the British zone is granted; and if he will give such a permit as is required.
§ Mr. MayhewYes. There is an acute shortage of textbooks of all sorts, and we are most anxious to take advantage of gifts of books from Switzerland. No special import permit is needed and a number of books have already been received. If difficulty has arisen in any case I should be grateful if my hon. Friend would give me particulars.
