§ Mr. Osborneasked the Minister of Fuel and Power what has been the cost of excavating for outcrop coal on the Coleorton-Swannington cross-roads since last November; how many men and machines have been engaged; how much coal has been produced: and upon whom has the loss fallen.
§ Mr. ShinwellThe cost of opencast coal operations at the site cannot be fully ascertained until the final accounts of the contractor concerned are received and agreed. During the period of working about 20 men and five machines were 39W engaged on the average. The total production of coal from the site was 6,000 tons. Any loss on opencast working not falling to be borne by the contractor under the terms of his contract is met from the Exchequer.
