§ Mr. Sorensenasked the Under-Secretary of State for India whether His Majesty's Government have accepted any financial commitment in respect of the exhibition of Indian art to be held by the Royal Academy next winter; and what is the extent of their commitment.
§ Mr. A. HendersonYes. His Majesty's Government have agreed to share equally with the Government of India any proved loss not exceeding £10,000 in all which may result from the exhibition. The maximum sum therefore which the Government are committed to ask Parliament if necessary to vote in order to meet the the United Kingdom's share of the arrangement will be £5,000. It is hoped, however, that there will be no need to call on the guarantee.
