HC Deb 02 July 1947 vol 439 cc163-4W
85. Mr. Charles Smith

asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies what plans have been made by the Government of Kenya to initiate a system of State schools which will ultimately provide for children of all communities to be educated together.

Mr. Creech Jones

I understand that in view of the present educational provision and other social arrangements no plans of the kind suggested have been contemplated.

86. Mr. Charles Smith

asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies what allocation it is intended to make from the Kenya Development Fund for European, African, Indian and Arab education; how much per head of these different communities these figures represent; and what amounts it is proposed to devote to education for these communities from other sources.

Mr. Creech Jones

I understand that the allocations are at present under further examination locally. I am asking the Acting Governor for information and will communicate with my hon. Friend as soon as I receive it.
