HC Deb 21 January 1947 vol 432 c13W
29. Colonel Stoddart-Scott

asked the Secretary of State for War whether he is aware that Northern Command are contemplating requisitioning 1,300 acres of land near Otley and that 1,000 acres is good dairy farming land; and why no prior consultations have been held with the local authority and the local farmers.

Mr. Bellenger

This area has been used by the War Department since June, 1943. The proposal for its retention for training purposes is before the Inter-Departmental Committee on Service Land Requirements who will, in the course of their investigations, take into account all relevant considerations, including agricultural use, and will consider the views of all the authorities interested.
