HC Deb 21 January 1947 vol 432 cc29-30W
Mr. Garry Allighan

asked the Minister of Health whether he will consider introducing legislation for the abolition of privately-owned burial grounds and crematoria, bringing them into municipal or State ownership, and taking the burial of the dead, including the provision of caskets and funeral equipment, out of the hands of private profit-making concerns.

Mr. Bevan

I see no possibility that Parliamentary time could be found in the near future for considering legislation amending the statutes relating to burial grounds and cemeteries, which would inevitably be very complicated.
