HC Deb 27 February 1947 vol 433 c328W
114. Mr. Orbach

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department, whether it is still an offence against his regulations to remove out of doors a Morrison shelter; and whether he will authorise local authorities to collect these shelters when requested.

Mr. Ede

Householders to whom Morrison shelters were issued free of cost are still under obligation to take reasonable care of them pending collection, and if the shelters can no longer be accommodated indoors they should be placed where they are not likely to be taken away by unauthorised persons. Steps are being taken to speed up the general collection of these shelters, but in the meantime local authorities are at liberty to remove individual shelters where cases of special difficulty are brought to their notice.
