HC Deb 24 February 1947 vol 433 c237W
58. Mr. E. P. Smith

asked the Minister of Agriculture if he will take steps to arrange for the immediate restoration of the Kent A.E.C.'s hostel for landworkers at Appledore, which was half destroyed by a flying bomb, in order to provide accommodation for some of the many extra workers who will be required for the 1947 harvest in the Romney Marsh and district.

Mr. T. Williams

This property was so badly damaged that complete rebuilding will be necessary. This cannot be done in time for this year's harvest. My Department and the Kent War Agricultural Executive Committee are making other provision for harvest labour in the Romney Marsh district.
