HC Deb 20 February 1947 vol 433 c211W
Sir W. Smithers

asked the Minister of Fuel and Power if he will give detailed information of all cases during the war where shortage of fuel supplies led to the stoppage of factories and the cutting of electricity at power stations during specified hours; and to what extent these breakdowns were attributable to weather conditions.

Mr. Shinwell

Information about the stoppages of factories owing to shortage of fuel during the war years is available only for the period January to July, 1944, when 104 individual stoppages occurred. It is not possible to say to what extent these breakdowns were attributable to weather conditions.
