Sir W. Smithers

asked the Minister of Fuel and Power whether, in view of the fuel crisis, he will say to whom belong the two dumps of coal in Wilton Road, Victoria, and in Baker Street; and how much coal there is. approximately, in each dump.

Mr. Shinwell

The coal in the two dumps to which the hon. Member refers, belongs to my Department. That at Longmoor Street, Wilton Road, Victoria, contains about 1,250 tons of house coal and the Baker Street dump contains about 2,000 tons of house coal. These stocks are part of some 11,250 tons of house coal which

1941, 1942, 1943, 1945 and 1946, giving in each case in which month' the highest and lowest figure occurred.

Mr. Shinwell

The total distributed coal stocks in Great Britain were as follow:

were put into Government dumps in London last summer with a view to providing a winter reserve additional to the stocks in merchants' depots.
