HC Deb 20 February 1947 vol 433 cc203-4W
97. Mr. Henderson Stewart

asked the Minister of Fuel and Power if he is aware that many cottagers in the rural districts of East Fife have no coal and, being without other means of heat such as gas and electricity, are suffering acutely at the present time; and what action he is taking to ensure that these people receive equal treatment with other sections of the community.

Mr. Shinwell

I am aware that in one district in East Fife there was a difficulty about coal supplies by a single merchant. Deliveries have, however, now been made to all his consumers and the position will be closely watched to prevent the recurrence of similar difficulties.
