§ Mr. Wyattasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department how long each of the Prison Commissioners has served; and at what age they are obliged to retire.
§ Mr. EdeThe Chairman of the Prison Commission has served in his present capacity since 13th April, 1942, and the other commissioner has been a commissioner since 1st June, 1938. Both are established civil servants and are subject to the current rules governing the retirement of established civil servants.

§ Mr. EdeThere are at present two Prison Commissioners, the Chairman, Mr. L. W. Fox, M.G., aged 51, and Dr. J. C. W. Methven, M.R.C.S., L.R.C.P., aged 61. Mr. Fox has had long administrative experience in the Home Office and elsewhere, and was Secretary of the Prison Commission from 1925 to 1934. Dr. Methven has many years experience both as medical officer and Governor of prisons and borstal institutions, and as Assistant Commissioner and Inspector of Prisons.
