HC Deb 20 February 1947 vol 433 cc210-1W
103. Mrs. Manning

asked the Minister of Fuel and Power what steps he has taken to restrict the use of electricity in pin table and other forms of amusement arcades.

Mr. Shinwell

The use of electricity for lighting in pin table saloons and amusement arcades is subject to the maximum consumption rate of one watt per square foot of the area illuminated. This wattage includes the incidental lights on and in the machines. There have been a number of prosecutions and convictions for contraventions of the law in such premises. During the present emergency no electricity may be used during the hours of 9 a.m. to 12 noon and 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.
