asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether, in spite of the dissatisfaction expressed by him with the conditions of the recent elections in Poland as not being compatible with the terms of the Yalta Agreement, he proposes to negotiate with the Polish Government for the settlement of all outstanding questions as soon as possible.

My right hon. Friend is naturally anxious to settle Anglo-Polish

mittee, as its first task, to examine from the military point of view, the provisions of Article 43 of the Charter and to submit results of the study, and any recommendations, to the Security Council in due course. No report has yet been made to the Security Council; in their last communique in January; 1947, the Military Staff Committee announced that they were continuing the study of the principles affecting the overall strength of the Armed Forces to be at the disposal of the Security Council.
