Mrs. Ayrton Gouldasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he will state the number of officers and nursing staff in Holloway prison and hospital to provide the full complement needed; the number now employed in each category; how many were appointed in the first and second halves of 1946; and how many left in the same periods.
§ Mr. EdeOn the present single-shift time-table 10 principal officers and 100 officers are required for the prison; to principal officers and 79 officers are in post. A staff of 32 is required for the hospital and 22 are in post. Thirty-six officers and 12 nursing staff were appointed during the first half of 1946 and 19 officers and eight nursing staff were appointed during the second half; 29 officers and 10 nursing staff left during the first half of 1946, and one principal officer and 15 officers and seven nursing staff left during the second half of 1946.
