HC Deb 10 February 1947 vol 433 c1W
15. Sir G. Fox

asked the Minister of Food why the price of cooking fats for fish fryers has been increased from £3 8s. to £4 16s. per cwt.; and how this price compares with the retail price of lard in the shops.

Mr. Strachey

The. price of cooking fat for trade use has been increased because of the rise in the cost of raw materials. The present price of £4 16s. per cwt., or approximately 10¼d per lb. to fish fryers, compares with a retail price of 9d. per lb. for domestic cooking fat, including lard.
