HC Deb 10 February 1947 vol 433 c10W
77. Mr. D. Jones

asked the Minister of Transport whether he is aware of the apprehension of the officers and men of the s.s "Fort Finlay" which sailed from Egypt recently for Salonica, under charter to his Department with a cargo of war materials; and whether he will take such steps as are necessary to prevent, in future, any unnecessary risks to the lives of British merchant seamen in handling this type of traffic.

Mr. Barnes

I entirely agree that unnecessary risks to the lives of seamen should not be taken, but I have no information that such risks were incurred on the voyage in question. I am making inquiries and will write to my hon. Friend when I have the reports.
