asked the Minister of Works whether he will make a statement in regard to the excavations now proceeding in Old Palace Yard; and whether or not it is intended to demolish No. 5, Old Palace Yard.

These excavations are being carried out to prepare the foundations of the King George V Memorial, the site for which was approved by Resolutions of both Houses of Parliament. The completion of the memorial scheme requires the eventual demolition of No. 5, Old Palace Yard, but not until alternative accommodation can be provided for those Members who use it for office purposes,
